Mark Gurry's Oracle Performance Tuning Tool for DBAs Eyes up Developers

Sydney, Australia - October, 5 2006

With release 4.3 of EagleEye™ Mark Gurry and Associates (MGA) has placed the emphasis on providing Developers with tools to produce highly tuned code.

EagleEye™ has largely been viewed in the Oracle community as an interactive performance tuning tool that assists Oracle DBAs to quickly identify the root causes of performance issues and receive guidance from the tool on how to resolve them. Now release 4.3 of EagleEye offers tools to the Developer community that simplifies the writing of optimised code. The EagleEye methodology, initially designed for DBAs to identify and resolve performance issues, now incorporates a “step by step” guide on how to write tuned code in the first instance. This methodology, combined with the performance information EagleEye provides for the database, reduces the effort associated with writing tuned code the first time around. EagleEye 4.3 also contains specific enhancements for a variety of products including PeopleSoft.

"Much of the untuned SQL that we identify on production and test sites is caused by SQL statements not adhering to a few basic principles incorporated into the EagleEye methodology. If Developers were aware of these principles, a lot of the issues that we see in these environments would not have existed in the first place" said CEO of MGA and best selling technical author Mark Gurry.

The methodologies within EagleEye contain the latest SQL tuning advice from Mark’s best selling book “Oracle SQL Tuning” as well as additional information gathered from MGA staff tuning sites around the world. The tuning advice will be updated regularly with the latest updates available online from the MGA Web site, www.mga-it.com.

“With release 4.3, MGA has delivered significant enhancements to the EagleEye toolset that will help Developers produce more efficient code and for DBAs to be more productive. The bottom line is that clients will be able to extract every last cent from their infrastructure and Oracle investment. All of this is packaged in a single, cost-effective and simply licenced software package – EagleEye 4.3” continued Gurry.

Headquartered in Melbourne Australia, Mark Gurry and Associates (MGA) is recognised worldwide as experts in Oracle Database tuning. The company provides a range of Oracle and SQL Server support services, tuning and replication products to clients worldwide. More information on MGA and its offerings is available at www.mga-it.com
